What do we know about how well interventions designed to improve employment and earnings for people with low incomes have worked in past periods of economic recession and recovery? Learning from what has been effective during past periods of economic difficulty can help inform how we meet today’s challenges. Understanding that many service providers are grappling with how to navigate these challenges, the Pathways to Work Evidence Clearinghouse team conducted a meta-analysis, looking across hundreds of employment interventions and studies to find programs with the strongest positive effects on outcomes during different economic periods. This November 2021 webinar included a discussion of the findings from the meta-analysis, which address two questions:
-
What interventions improve employment and earnings of people with low incomes during economic recession and recovery periods?
-
What types of services work? Are interventions that include certain types of services more or less effective?
